Drug Description

Indications

Valisone-G Cream is a topical medication primarily used to treat various skin conditions, including allergic or inflammatory skin rashes such as eczema, dermatitis, and allergies.

Valisone-G Cream contains two active ingredients: betamethasone and gentamicin. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that helps reduce swelling, itching, and redness associated with skin inflammation. Gentamicin is an antibiotic that helps treat or prevent bacterial infections that may be present on the skin.

By combining betamethasone and gentamicin in Valisone-G Cream, the medication provides both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. This can be beneficial in treating skin conditions that involve inflammation and potential bacterial infections.

Use and Dosage

Use the cream on the skin only as directed by your doctor, usually 1 to 3 times daily.

To use Valisone-G Cream, follow these general steps:

  1. Wash and dry the affected area of the skin before application.
  2. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area.
  3. Gently rub the cream into the skin until it is absorbed.
  4. Wash your hands after applying the cream unless your hands are the affected area.
  5. Use Valisone-G Cream as directed by your healthcare provider. The frequency and duration of use will depend on the specific condition being treated.

Valisone-G Cream should not be used on open wounds, broken skin, or areas with active infections without specific medical guidance. Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the area unless directed to do so by your doctor. Additionally, avoid contact with the eyes, face, groin, or underarms unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.

Use the cream exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply a double application to make up for a missed one.

Cautions

  • Avoid contact with eyes, face, groin, or underarms: Take care to avoid getting Valisone-G Cream in contact with your eyes, face, groin, or underarms unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider. These areas are sensitive and may be more prone to side effects.
  • Avoid using on broken or infected skin: Valisone-G Cream should not be applied to open wounds, broken skin, or areas with active infections. Using the cream on these areas can potentially worsen the condition or delay healing.
  • Long-term use: Prolonged or continuous use of Valisone-G Cream should be avoided without medical supervision. Long-term use of topical corticosteroids can lead to systemic absorption of the medication, which may increase the risk of side effects.
  • Not suitable for certain skin conditions: Valisone-G Cream may not be suitable for all skin conditions. Inform your healthcare provider about any existing skin conditions, including fungal or viral infections, as well as any history of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to medications.
  • Skin thinning: Prolonged or excessive use of Valisone-G Cream, especially on thin or sensitive skin areas, may lead to skin thinning. This is more likely to occur with strong or potent corticosteroid creams.
  • Using too much Valisone-G: Using an excessive amount of Valisone-G Cream may increase the risk of experiencing side effects. Use the cream as directed by your healthcare provider and not exceed the recommended dosage.
