Drug Description

Indications

Sodium bicarbonate, commonly known as baking soda, has been shown to effectively reduce stomach acid levels and is utilized as an antacid to alleviate symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, and upset stomach. Notably, sodium bicarbonate is a rapid-acting antacid, and its use is restricted to temporary relief. Individuals seeking treatment for persistent stomach acid issues, such as peptic ulcer disease or GERD, should consult their medical practitioner to explore alternative medication options. Essential to note that sodium bicarbonate is the principal component of baking soda.

Uses and Dosage

Should adhere to the instructions on the product label or those prescribed by your physician when using sodium bicarbonate. Avoid exceeding the recommended dosage or duration of use, whether larger or smaller, to avert potential adverse effects.

Typically, sodium bicarbonate tablets are dissolved entirely in water before ingestion. Essential to observe all guidelines on the product label for safe usage.

Should your symptoms persist or deteriorate while using sodium bicarbonate, promptly contact your healthcare provider for further assessment and advice.

Store sodium bicarbonate away from moisture and heat sources at room temperature to ensure optimal quality.
