Description

Indications

Singulair, or Montelukast, is a medication utilized to manage and prevent asthma symptoms, such as wheezing and shortness of breath. It can be taken before exercise to avoid breathing issues during training, known as bronchospasm. This medication may reduce the frequency of using quick-relief inhalers.

Montelukast can alleviate symptoms related to hay fever and allergic rhinitis, including sneezing and a stuffy, runny, itchy nose. However, since other allergy medications may be safer, this medication should be used for this condition only when other allergy medications are not viable or ineffective, as advised in the Warning section.

Montelukast must be used regularly to be effective and should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks or breathing issues. In case of an asthma attack or sudden shortness of breath, follow the prescribed guidelines for your quick-relief inhaler. This medication blocks specific natural substances, leukotrienes, that may worsen asthma and allergies. It eases breathing by diminishing inflammation and swelling in the airways.

Uses and Dosage

Before administering the Singulair tablet, read the Instructions for use carefully to ensure the oral granules are prepared and given accurately.

Most individuals take montelukast daily during the evening to prevent allergy or asthma symptoms. However, if physical activity exacerbates your asthma, your physician may advise taking montelukast 2 hours before exercising. Please note that only one montelukast dose should be taken daily and stay within this limit.
