Combining three drugs alleviates heartburn and other symptoms caused by excessive stomach acid, known as acid indigestion. Famotidine is a medication that obstructs acid release in the stomach and can prevent heartburn and acid indigestion from recurring. Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that quickly decrease stomach acid and relieve heartburn.
