Description
Indications
Orilissa is a medication utilized by women to alleviate moderate to severe pain associated with endometriosis, a condition characterized by the growth of tissue that typically lines the interior of the womb in an alternate location, such as the exterior surface of the uterus, ovaries, or other organs.
Symptoms of endometriosis may include painful/heavy/irregular menstrual periods, pain during or after sexual intercourse, or infertility.
Orilissa functions by reducing the body’s production of specific hormones (luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone), which leads to a decrease in levels of female sex hormones (estrogens). Lowering these hormone levels may help alleviate some symptoms of endometriosis.
