Description
Indications
The grass pollen allergenic extract falls within the category of pharmaceutical agents known as allergy immunotherapies. The primary purpose is ameliorating symptoms associated with moderate-to-severe seasonal allergies triggered by grass pollens, particularly in cases where conventional allergy interventions have proven ineffective. Before commencing treatment with grass pollen allergenic extract, a medical professional should establish the presence of the allergy through either cutaneous or serological testing.
The mechanism of action for this medication entails the modulation of the body’s immune response, rendering it less susceptible to the adverse effects of pollen exposure. Administration of this therapy may be initiated at any juncture throughout the year; however, initiation approximately four months before the grass pollen season is advisable to yield optimal symptomatic relief during the initial allergy season.
Uses and Dosage
The dosing regimen for adults and children aged five years and older necessitates a gradual dosage escalation during the initial three days of treatment. On the first day of treatment, a dosage of 100 International Units (IR), dissolved sublingually, should be administered once daily. This is followed by an increase to 200 IR on the second day. The maintenance dosage, which initiates on the third day and persists after that, comprises 300 IR dissolved under the tongue once daily.
Recognize that several variables can influence the appropriate dosage of this medication for an individual, encompassing factors such as body weight, concurrent medical conditions, and concomitant medications. If your physician has prescribed a dosage regimen distinct from the guidelines above, consult your healthcare provider before altering your administration pattern.
Handle the tablet with dry hands to administer this medication, extracting it from the packaging immediately before use. Subsequently, place the tablet beneath the tongue and permit it to dissolve.
