Description

Indications

Nicorette Mint is a nicotine gum with a refreshing mint flavor used to aid individuals in quitting smoking.

This gum works best when used alongside a comprehensive smoking cessation program, which may involve support groups, counseling, or behavior modification techniques.

As a smoking cessation aid, Nicorette Mint functions by delivering a regulated dose of nicotine gradually absorbed through the mouth’s lining. This process alleviates the anxiety, frustration, irritability, and restlessness linked to smoking cessation. In addition, it serves as a substitute oral activity, reducing the urge to smoke.

Uses and Dosage

Thoroughly read the accompanying user guide of Nicorette Mint for detailed instructions and important information before using it for the first time, and every time you get a refill. Should you have any inquiries, consult with your healthcare provider or pharmacist.

Nicorette Mint comes in two different strengths, and the prescribed amount is based on the daily cigarette consumption before quitting.

Individuals who smoke their initial cigarette within 30 minutes of waking should take a 4mg dose of gum, while those who smoke their first cigarette more than 30 minutes after waking should take a 2mg dose.

Treatment with Nicorette Mint usually begins on the chosen quit day and will span for 12 weeks.

During the initial 6 weeks, take one gum every 1-2 hours, then transition to every 2-4 hours for the subsequent 3 weeks, and finally every 4-8 hours for an additional 3 weeks.

For strong cravings, consider taking a second piece of gum within an hour. To increase the chances of success, aim to chew a minimum of 9 pieces of gum daily for the first 6 weeks.

To properly use Nicorette Mint, follow this chew-and-park technique:

  1. Slowly chew the gum until you detect the nicotine flavor or experience a tingling sensation in your mouth.
  2. Pause chewing and place the gum between your cheek and gums.
  3. Once the tingling subsides, resume chewing.
  4. Repeat this cycle until the tingling sensation dissipates, usually within 30 minutes.

Refrain from eating or drinking for 15 minutes before or during gum use.

For best results, adhere strictly to the instructions provided in the Nicorette Mint user guide or as advised by your doctor if this medication is prescribed.

Chew only one piece of gum at a time. Do not take one piece after another to reduce the risk of side effects like hiccups, nausea, or heartburn. Furthermore, do not exceed 24 pieces of gum in a day.

Finish the full 12-week regimen of Nicorette Mint. If, upon completing the treatment, you feel the need to continue using this medication as a preventive measure against smoking, seek guidance from your doctor.

Do not discontinue the use of this medication abruptly, as it may lead to withdrawal symptoms. A gradual dose reduction is necessary to reduce the risk of withdrawal effects.

For individuals with a history of extended or high-dose nicotine usage, the risk of withdrawal is elevated. Promptly inform your doctor or pharmacist if withdrawal symptoms arise.
