Indications 

This pharmaceutical agent is indicated for the treatment of fungal dermatological infections. This formulation incorporates nystatin, an antifungal agent that exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting fungal proliferation and contains triamcinolone. This anti-inflammatory corticosteroid mitigates manifestations such as swelling, pruritus, and erythema.  

This medication exclusively targets fungal skin infections and is not ineffective in alternative etiologies, such as bacterial or viral infections. Prudent utilization and avoidance of inappropriate application are imperative, as these practices can precipitate a diminished therapeutic response and reduced medication efficacy. 

Uses and Dosage 

Mycolog II Cream (Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide) Cream is usually applied to the affected areas twice daily in the morning and the evening by gently and thoroughly massaging the preparation into the skin. 

1. Begin by washing and thoroughly drying your hands before use. 
2. Cleanse and dry the affected area on your skin. 
3. Apply a modest quantity of the medication, forming a thin, even layer on the skin. Gently massage it as your healthcare provider directs, typically twice daily (morning and evening). 
4. After use, remember to wash your hands unless the product is being used to treat the hands. 
5. Avoid bandaging, covering, or encasing the treated area unless expressly advised by your doctor. Avoid using snug-fitting diapers or plastic pants when applying this medication to a child’s diaper region. 
6. When directed to use this medication in the groin area, apply it sparingly and opt for loose-fitting clothing. 
7. Exercise caution to prevent contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. In case of accidental contact, promptly wipe off the medication and thoroughly rinse the affected area with water. 

Maintain the course of treatment for the entire duration prescribed by your healthcare provider, even if symptoms appear to facilitate within the initial days of use.  

Side Effects 

Note that upon using this medication some individuals may experience:  

• Skin irritation 
• A sensation of burning 
• Dryness  

However, inform your healthcare provider if you experience any significant adverse effects, including but not limited to the following:  

• The development of stretch marks  
• Thinning or discoloration of the skin 
• Acne formation 
• Increased or unwanted hair growth 
• The appearance of small red skin bumps (folliculitis) 

Caution 

Before initiating treatment with nystatin in combination with triamcinolone, communicate with your healthcare provider or pharmacist regarding any known allergies you may have, mainly if you are allergic to this medication or other corticosteroids, such as hydrocortisone or prednisone or if you have any other known allergies. This product may contain inert constituents capable of inducing allergic reactions or other adverse effects. 

Furthermore, before commencing this medication, furnish your medical history to your healthcare provider or pharmacist. 

However, prolonged or extensive application of corticosteroid medications can render the body less responsive to physical stress. Therefore, inform your doctor or dentist before surgical procedures, emergency treatments, or, in the event of serious illnesses or injuries, about your utilization of this medication or any prior usage within the preceding months.
