Description

Indications

Monistat 3 Vaginal Cream is used to alleviate vaginal itching, burning, and white discharge associated with vaginal yeast infections (candidiasis).

As an azole antifungal medication, Monistat 3 Vaginal Cream works by inhibiting the growth of the yeast (fungus) responsible for the infection.

Uses and Dosage

Thoroughly review the information leaflet accompanying Monistat 3 Vaginal Cream before initial use and every time you get a refill. Consult a healthcare professional for questions and further information.

Monistat 3 Vaginal Cream is indicated for vaginal application only and should not be used unless a doctor has diagnosed a vaginal yeast infection.

This medication comes as a ready-to-use, prefilled applicator for use over three consecutive nights, even during menstruation.

Prior to and following use, ensure thorough handwashing. Avoid contact of the cream with your eyes, and if accidental exposure occurs, promptly rinse with ample water. Consult your doctor if eye irritation persists.

To properly administer this vaginal cream, adhere to the following steps:

  1. Remove the prefilled applicator from its wrapper.
  2. Unscrew and discard the blue cap from the prefilled applicator.
  3. Insert the plunger into the prefilled applicator by placing the small end into the gray hole at the applicator’s end.
  4. Gently insert the applicator into the vagina as far as comfortable, either while lying on your back with bent knees or standing with feet apart and knees bent.
  5. With one hand holding the barrel, use the other hand to push the plunger fully, ensuring the cream is placed deep into the vagina. Subsequently, remove both parts of the applicator from the vagina.
  6. Discard the applicator after use.
  7. Lie down promptly after cream insertion to minimize leakage.
  8. Repeat steps 1-7 before bedtime for the next two consecutive days.

Consider using deodorant-free pads or panty shields while using Monistat 3 Vaginal Cream to safeguard your clothing, as the cream may cause leakage or discharge.

Refrain from using tampons, douches, spermicides, condoms, or diaphragms until you have finished the treatment and your symptoms have resolved.

To achieve optimal results, consistently apply Monistat 3 Vaginal Cream at around the same time(s) each night. Use it exactly as directed on the product package or as directed by your doctor.

Continue using the cream even if symptoms subside within a few days or if your menstrual period begins. Ceasing the medication prematurely may lead to a recurrence of the yeast infection.

If the infection persists or worsens after completing one course of therapy, consult your doctor, as it may indicate another type of infection.
