Indications 

Modulon is a prescription medicine used to treat and alleviate symptoms related to irritable bowel syndrome (spastic colon) and to help speed up the return of intestinal movement after abdominal surgery for postoperative paralytic ileus. 

As an antispasmodic medication, Modulon works on the muscles in the digestive system by blocking the entry of calcium ions, which reduces the contractions of the colon. This helps to calm down spasms in the smooth muscles. Moreover, it affects potassium ions and binds to mu-opioid receptors, further contributing to the relaxation of smooth muscle spasms. 

Uses and Dosage 

Thoroughly review the medication guide and patient information leaflet accompanying Modulon before initial intake and with each prescription refill. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any sections that may be unclear. 

Modulon dosage may differ per individual based on their medical conditions and response to the treatment. 

Typically, this medication is taken in divided doses three times a day before meals as prescribed by the doctor. 

For best results, take Modulon consistently and exactly as directed, at around the same times every day. Do not change the prescribed dose, frequency, or duration of use without consulting your doctor.

Cautions

Advise your doctor of your pregnancy status before using Modulon, as its use is not recommended during pregnancy. 

Notify your doctor about breastfeeding prior to taking Modulon, as its safety during lactation has not been established.
