Indications 

Locacorten Vioform Eardrops are indicated for addressing infections and inflammation affecting the outer ear. 

Locacorten Vioform Eardrops contains flumethasone pivalate, a corticosteroid, and clioquinol, an anti-infective agent. These components alleviate symptoms of ear infections, such as itching and redness, while inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi responsible for these infections. 

Uses and Dosage 

Before using Locacorten Vioform Eardrops for the first time and with every prescription refill, carefully review the provided medication guide and patient information leaflet. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for questions or additional information. 

Typically, the affected ear is treated with 2 or 3 drops of Locacorten Vioform twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 

In cases where ear infections result in discharge, your healthcare provider or pharmacist may instruct you on ear cleaning prior to applying the drops. 

Before application, you can gently warm the eardrops to body temperature (not warmer) by holding the bottle in your hands. 

Prevent contamination by ensuring the dropper tip does not touch any surface, including the ear. 

To ensure correct application of the eardrops, follow these steps: 

1. Lie down with the affected ear facing upwards and gently pull down on the ear lobe. 
2. Administer the prescribed number of drops into the ear canal. 
   • Avoid contact with the eye area when applying the drops. 
3. Maintain your head tilted for a few minutes. Gently press on the ear to evenly distribute the drops before sitting up. 
   • Optionally, loosely place a piece of cotton wool at the ear opening briefly to prevent drops from leaking. 
4. Wash your hands after administering the ear drops. 
5. Close the container tightly after each use. 

To achieve the best outcome, administer this medication at the same time each day. If you accidentally miss a dose, promptly apply the drops when you recall and resume your regular routine. Refrain from doubling the dosage to compensate for the missed one. 

Use Locacorten Vioform Eardrops exactly as directed by your doctor. Avoid using a larger amount, using it more frequently, or extending the duration beyond what your doctor has prescribed. 

Side Effects 

Common Side Effects 

• Irritation within or around the ear may manifest as: 
  • Burning sensation 
  • Itching or the presence of a rash 
• Skin or hair discoloration 

If any of the above-listed side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. 

Allergic Reactions 

Although rare, a severe allergic reaction to Locacorten Vioform Eardrops can occur. Discontinue the use of this medication and call your doctor if any of the following side effects manifest: 

• Skin rashes or itching 
• Swelling of the face, lips, or throat 
• Breathing difficulties or wheeziness

Cautions 

The application of Locacorten Vioform Eardrops is limited to external use exclusively. Refrain from oral consumption; in case of accidental ingestion, promptly reach out to your doctor or proceed to the nearest hospital emergency department without delay. 

Before starting treatment with Locacorten Vioform Eardrops, inform your doctor if you have any known allergies, particularly to clioquinol, flumethasone, or any of the inactive ingredients in these eardrops. 

Seek advice from your doctor to confirm the safety of using Locacorten Vioform Eardrops if you have: 

• A perforated or ruptured eardrum 
• An outer ear infection 

Certain medications might amplify the impact of Locacorten Vioform Eardrops. Your doctor might opt to closely monitor you if you are using these medications, including some HIV medicines like ritonavir and cobicistat. 

To mitigate potential interactions with Locacorten Vioform Eardrops, inform your doctor about your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. 

Inform your doctor about your use of Locacorten Vioform Eardrops before undergoing thyroid or urine tests, as these drops might impact the test results. 

Avoid using Locacorten Vioform Eardrops if you are pregnant, intending to conceive, or breastfeeding unless your doctor deems it essential. 

Locacorten Vioform Eardrops can cause yellow staining on hair, skin, nails, and fabric and may discolor jewelry. If fabric staining occurs, wash the items within 24 hours, ideally soaking suitable fabrics overnight. After soaking, wash at the recommended fabric temperature using a soap-based powder.
