Indications 

Frovatriptan is indicated for managing migraines, offering efficacious relief for various symptoms such as headache and pain and associated manifestations, including nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Timely administration of this medication facilitates a swift return to one’s regular activities and potentially reduces the necessity for supplementary analgesic drugs.  

Flova is classified as a member of the triptan drug class. Frovatriptan exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating serotonin, a naturally occurring substance that induces constriction of cerebral blood vessels. The mechanism of action involves the modulation of specific brain nerves, which contributes to pain alleviation. However, note that Frovatriptan does not possess preventive properties for future migraine episodes or exert a diminishing effect on the frequency of migraine attacks. 

Uses and Dosage 

Frova is specifically indicated for the acute management of migraines in adult patients, both with or without aura. The recommended dosage consists of a singular oral administration of a Frova tablet containing 2.5 mg of frovatriptan, accompanied by fluids. 

A second tablet may be taken in the event of migraine recurrence following initial relief, provided a minimum interval of 2 hours has elapsed between doses. Adhere to a maximum daily amount of Frova, ensuring that it does not exceed three tablets within 24 hours, equivalent to a cumulative dosage of 7.5 mg (3 pills x 2.5 mg per tablet). 

Side Effects 

Adverse effects may occur while using this medication, such as:  

• Flushing 
• Sensations of tingling, numbness, prickling, heat 
• Tiredness 
• Dry mouth 
• Dizziness

• History of stroke or “mini-stroke” (transient ischemic attack)
