Mometasone is a medication prescribed for the treatment of various skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, allergies, and rashes. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to the reduction of swelling (inflammation), itching, and redness. Mometasone is classified as a medium-strength corticosteroid. This is available in different formulations such as cream, ointment, and lotion (solution). The specific type of product will be determined by your doctor based on the nature of the skin condition and the area of the body being treated.

In rare cases, long-term or extensive use of corticosteroid medications can diminish your body’s ability to respond to physical stress. Before undergoing surgery, you must inform your doctor or dentist about all the products you are using, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products.
