Cyclocort Cream is indicated for treating diverse skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, allergies, and rashes. 

As a potent corticosteroid, Cyclocort Cream is thought to function by diminishing swelling, itching, and redness in skin conditions responsive to steroid treatment. 

Uses and Dosage

Cyclocort Cream is intended for skin use only. However, refrain from applying it on the face, groin, or underarms unless specifically instructed by your doctor. 

Typically, this cream is applied to the affected skin area two to three times daily as prescribed by the doctor, depending on the severity of the condition. 

To properly apply this cream: 

1. Begin by thoroughly washing and drying your hands.  
2. Next, cleanse and dry the affected skin area.  
3. Apply a thin film of the cream to the affected area and gently rub it in. 
4. Wash your hands after each application unless you are treating your hands. 

Unless explicitly advised by your doctor, avoid spreading Cyclocort Cream over a wide surface of the skin and refrain from covering, bandaging, or wrapping the area without proper medical guidance. 

Moreover, avoid wearing plastic pants or snug-fitting diapers when tending to the diaper region. 

Do not apply Cyclocort Cream to areas with existing infections or sores. 

When applying this cream around the eyes, take care to prevent contact with the eyes to avoid exacerbating or inducing glaucoma. Likewise, ensure the cream does not come into contact with the nose or mouth. If contact occurs in these regions, rinse thoroughly with water. 

Adhere to the prescribed usage of Cyclocort Cream, limiting its application to the designated condition and refraining from prolonged use. 

If your condition lasts or gets worse after two weeks, inform your doctor. 

Side Effects 

The potential adverse effects of Cyclocort Cream are outlined below. Should any of these symptoms persist or worsen, promptly notify your doctor. 

Common Side Effects 

• Burning, itching, irritation, or dryness of the treated skin 
• Redness or crusting around hair follicles 
• Acne and increased hair growth 
• Development of stretch marks and thinning of the skin 
• White or “pruned” appearance of the skin (resulting from tightly covering treated skin with a bandage or other covering) 

Serious Side Effects 

• Deterioration of skin condition 
• Redness, warmth, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation of the treated skin 
• Elevated blood sugar levels, manifesting as: 
  • Increased thirst 
  • Frequent urination 
  • Dry mouth 
  • Fruity breath odor 
• Potential indications of Cyclocort Cream absorption through the skin:  
  • Weight gain, especially in the face, upper back, and torso 
  • Delayed wound healing 
  • Skin thinning or discoloration 
  • Increased body hair 
  • Muscle weakness 
  • Nausea 
  • Diarrhea 
  • Headaches 
  • Eye pain 
  • Fatigue 
  • Mood swings 
  • Menstrual alterations 
  • Changes in sexual function 

Inform your doctor right away if you experience any of the serious effects listed above. 

Steroid medications like Cyclocort Cream may impact a child’s growth. Inform your doctor if your child’s growth or weight gain appears to deviate from the typical rate while using this cream. 

Allergic Reactions 

In rare cases, Cyclocort Cream may trigger a severe allergic response. Promptly seek medical help if you observe any indications of such a reaction, including: 

• Hives 
• Swelling (especially in the face, tongue, or throat) 
• Breathing difficulties

Cautions 

Before starting treatment with Cyclocort Cream, inform your doctor if you have any known allergies, particularly to amcinonide, any components present in this cream, or other corticosteroids like hydrocortisone and prednisone. 

Inform your doctor about your medical background before using Cyclocort Cream to determine its suitability for your condition, particularly if you have a history of immune system disorders or impaired blood flow. 

Cyclocort Cream has minimal interactions with other drugs. However, as interactions can occur with various medications, informing all your healthcare providers of your complete medication regimen, including prescriptions, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and herbal supplements, is recommended. 

Notify your doctor about your pregnancy status before using Cyclocort Cream, as its effects on a developing fetus remain uncertain.  

The transfer of amcinonide into breast milk through topical application is uncertain, yet related medications can enter breast milk when ingested orally. Prior to breastfeeding when using this cream, consult your doctor for guidance.
