Description
IndicationsÂ
Ciloxan Eye Ointment is indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections.Â
As a quinolone antibiotic, Ciloxan Eye Ointment works by eradicating the bacteria responsible for the infection.Â
Uses and DosageÂ
Before starting treatment with Ciloxan Eye Ointment and with every prescription refill, carefully review the accompanying medication guide and patient information leaflet. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for any questions or concerns.Â
Ciloxan Eye Ointment is usually applied to the affected eye three times daily for the initial two days, followed by a twice-daily regimen for the subsequent five days.Â
To apply this ointment:Â
- Begin by thoroughly washing your hands with soap and water.Â
- To prevent contamination, ensure the tube tip does not come into contact with your eye or any other surfaces.Â
- Tilt your head back and gaze upward while gently pulling down your lower eyelid to create a pocket.Â
- Apply a 1/2 inch (1.5 centimeters) strip of ointment into the pocket by gently squeezing the tube.Â
- Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes while moving your eyeball in all directions to evenly distribute the medication. Â
- Avoid blinking and refrain from rubbing your eyes during this time.Â
- If directed, repeat steps 3-5 for the other eye.Â
- After application, use a tissue to wipe away any excess ointment from your eyelids and lashes.Â
- Use a clean tissue to wipe the tube tip clean and immediately replace and securely tighten the cap on the tube.Â
- Finish by washing your hands to remove any remaining medication.Â
To achieve optimal results, use Ciloxan Eye ointment consistently and precisely as directed, preferably at the same times each day.Â
Adhere to the full prescribed duration of this eye medication, even if your symptoms resolve within a few days. Discontinuing it prematurely could enable bacterial growth and potentially lead to a recurrence of the infection.Â
