Indications
Caverject Kit is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
As a vasodilator, Caverject works by facilitating penile blood flow to attain and sustain an erection.
Uses and Dosage
Carefully read the accompanying medication guide and patient information leaflet before using the Caverject Kit and every time you get a refill. Familiarize yourself with all preparation and usage guidelines. Should you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Caverject kit comes as a single-use, dual-chamber syringe system consisting of a glass cartridge. The front chamber contains sterile, freeze-dried alprostadil, while the rear chamber holds sterile bacteriostatic water for reconstitution.
The initial dose administration and titration of this medication should occur exclusively in your doctor’s office. Do not alter the dosage without first consulting your doctor.
For self-administration at home, follow these steps:
- Select an injection site, typically along the dorso-lateral aspect of the proximal third of the penis.
- Before each injection, clean the chosen site with rubbing alcohol.
- Rotate the injection site with each dose to prevent complications beneath the skin.
- Do not inject on visible veins.
- Following injection, use an alcohol swab to apply pressure to the injection site for approximately 5 minutes to prevent bruising.
Avoid using a bent needle for medication injection. In case the needle becomes bent, substitute it with a new one. If the needle breaks during the injection process, promptly notify your doctor.
Following injection, an erection may develop within 5 to 20 minutes and should not extend beyond 1 hour. Do not use Caverject Kit more than three times a week and maintain a minimum 24-hour gap between each use.
Regularly schedule appointments at your doctor’s office to assess the therapeutic benefits and safety of your treatment with the Caverject Kit.
