Indications 

Canesten 6 Day Vaginal Cream is a treatment for vaginal thrush or yeast infections. The cream helps to relieve itching, burning, and discharge associated with these infections. 

Canesten 6 Day Vaginal Cream contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, which belongs to a class of antifungal medications. It works by inhibiting the growth of fungi, including the yeast Candida, which can cause vaginal infections.  

Use and Dosage 

The cream is designed to be used internally in the vagina. The cream comes with an applicator that allows for easy and precise application. The treatment regimen for the cream is to use the cream once daily for six consecutive days. 

To use Canesten 6 Day Vaginal Cream: 

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before starting the application. 
2. Remove the cap from the tube of cream. 
3. Attach the applicator to the tube by screwing it on tightly. 
4. Gently squeeze the tube to fill the applicator with the cream. The applicator will be filled with the correct amount of cream for one dose. 
5. Carefully insert the filled applicator into your vagina as deep as it is comfortable. 
6. Push the plunger of the applicator to release the cream into the vagina. 
7. Withdraw the applicator from the vagina. 
8. Dispose of the used applicator in a safe and hygienic manner. 
9. Wash your hands again after using the cream. 

Note: The cream should be used at bedtime for six consecutive nights, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider. Cautions 

• Allergic Reactions: If you are allergic to clotrimazole or any other ingredients in the cream, avoid using the cream. If you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately. 
• First-time Infections: If this is your first vaginal infection or you are unsure if it is a yeast infection, consult a healthcare professional before using the cream. They can confirm the diagnosis and recommend the appropriate treatment. 
• Other Types of Infections: Canesten Cream is specifically designed for treating vaginal yeast infections. If you have symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, foul-smelling discharge, or flu-like symptoms, it may indicate a different type of infection, such as bacterial vaginosis. In such cases, using Canesten Cream may not be effective, and you should consult a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment. 
• Underlying Conditions: Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any underlying medical conditions you have, such as lower stomach or back pain, HIV/AIDS, or frequent vaginal yeast infections (more than three in six months). They may need to adjust the dosage or monitor you closely for any potential side effects 
• Other Medications: Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, supplements, or herbal products you are currently taking or planning to take. Some medications may interact with Canesten 6-Day Vaginal Cream, potentially affecting its effectiveness or causing unwanted side effects. 
• Pregnant or Breastfeeding: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a healthcare professional before using Canesten 6-Day Vaginal Cream to ensure it is safe for you and your baby. 
• Use during Menstruation: Avoid using Clotrimazole during your menstrual period. The cream may not be as effective and could be more likely to leak out. If you need to use the cream during your period, consult your healthcare professional for guidance on how to proceed. 
• Condoms and Diaphragms: Clotrimazole may weaken latex condoms and diaphragms, potentially reducing their effectiveness as a form of contraception or protection against sexually transmitted infections. Use alternative methods of contraception, such as non-latex condoms, while using the cream and for at least three days after treatment. 
• Sexual Intercourse: Avoid sexual intercourse while using Clotrimazole. The cream may cause irritation or discomfort during intercourse and could also affect the effectiveness of the treatment. Wait until the treatment is completed and symptoms have resolved before resuming sexual activity. 
• Keep Applicator Clean: Ensure that the applicator is kept clean and properly sanitized before and after each use. This helps reduce the risk of introducing additional bacteria into the vagina. 
• Storage: Store Canesten 6-Day Vaginal Cream at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. 
• Discontinue Use if Irritation Occurs: If you experience severe irritation, burning, or itching after using Canesten 6-Day Vaginal Cream, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional for further guidance.
