Biofreeze Pain Relief Gel is a cold therapy pain relief product that provides long-lasting relief from sore muscles, backaches, sore joints, and arthritis. Specifically designed for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis pain, backache, strains, and sprains.
Uses and Dosage
If you intend to use the over-the-counter product for self-treatment, read and adhere to all the instructions on the product package before using the medication. If you have any queries, seek the advice of your pharmacist. In case your physician prescribed this medication, use it as instructed.
This medication is intended for topical use only. Apply to the affected area no more than three to four times daily. In case of cream, gel or liquid, gently and thoroughly rub it in. Some liquid forms of this medication may require shaking before use. Verify the manufacturer’s information for specific directions. Ensure the medication has completely dried before allowing anyone else to touch the area.
After applying the medication, thoroughly wash your hands, unless you are using the medication to treat your hands. Do not allow the medication to get into your mouth, nose, or eyes. In case it does, rinse with plenty of water.
Do not apply this medication to severe burns or deep wounds. Do not tightly wrap or bandage the affected area. Doing so could increase the risk of side effects. You may cover the area loosely to protect your clothing.
Avoid using this medication right before, during, or after activities that may increase your skin temperature, such as heavy exercise, swimming, or bathing. Wait until your skin has cooled down before using the medication. Do not use a hot water bottle, heating pad, tanning bed, or sunlamp on the treated area.
Even if you have previously used the product, check the label’s ingredients. The manufacturer may have altered the ingredients. Moreover, products with similar names may contain ingredients intended for different purposes. Carefully read the label to ensure you have the correct product. Contact your pharmacist if you have any queries.
Inform your physician if your condition persists for more than a week, worsens, or recurs. Seek medical attention promptly if you think you have a severe medical condition.
Side Effects
- Possible side effects of this medication include redness, warmth, or irritation at the application site. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
- Your doctor has directed you to use this medication because they have judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Most people using this medication do not experience serious side effects.
- However, if you experience blistering or swelling at the application site or increased/unusual pain, stop using the medication and tell your doctor right away.
- Although very rare, a serious allergic reaction to this drug may occur. Seek medical help immediately if you notice symptoms such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.
Caution
Prior to using this product, inform your doctor or pharmacist about any allergies you may have, especially to menthol, or if you have any other allergies.
