Description
IndicationsÂ
Arnuity Ellipta is a prescription medication indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma in adults and children 5 years old and above.Â
As an inhaled corticosteroid, Arnuity Ellipta control and prevent asthma symptoms (such as wheezing and shortness of breath) by reducing airway inflammation and irritation allowing for easier breathing.  Â
Arnuity Ellipta needs regular use to be effective and should not be used to alleviate sudden asthma attacks. In case of an asthma attack, promptly use your prescribed quick-relief inhaler.Â
Uses and DosageÂ
Before using Arnuity Ellipta and with each prescription refill, carefully read its medication guide and patient information leaflet. For questions or clarifications, do not hesitate to ask your physician or pharmacist.Â
The dosage of Arnuity Ellipta is determined based on the patient’s medical condition and response to the treatment. Typically, it is inhaled once a day as prescribed by the doctor.Â
Doctors usually initiate this medication with an average dose and may adjust it by increasing or decreasing it based on symptom control after a minimum of 2 weeks.Â
Arnuity Ellipta contains fluticasone powder preloaded in an inhaler device with measured doses in blister packs. A dose is prepared for inhalation every time the inhaler’s cover is opened completely.Â
Opening and closing the inhaler’s cover without inhaling the medicine results in the loss of the dose, which remains in the inhaler but cannot be inhaled. Only open the inhaler cover when ready to use it and avoid wasting doses by not closing the cover until after inhaling the medicine.Â
To properly use Arnuity Ellipta, follow these steps:Â
- Open the inhaler coverÂ
- Open the inhaler cover by sliding it down to expose the mouthpiece, which should produce an audible click and decrease the counter by 1.Â
- This type of inhaler does not require shaking before use.Â
- If the counter does not decrease after hearing the click, the inhaler will not dispense the medicine. Contact your healthcare provider or pharmacist for assistance.Â
- ExhaleÂ
- Exhale fully while holding the inhaler away from your mouth, avoiding exhaling into the mouthpiece.Â
- Inhale the medicationÂ
- Place the mouthpiece between your lips, ensuring a snug fit around the curved shape.Â
- Inhale slowly and deeply through your mouth, not your nose.Â
- Ensure that you do not obstruct the air vent with your fingers.Â
- Remove the inhaler from your mouth and hold your breath for 3-4 seconds or as long as comfortable.Â
- Exhale slowly and gentlyÂ
- Even if used correctly, the medicine may not be tasted or felt, so avoid taking another dose from the inhaler even if there is no sensation or taste.Â
- Close the inhaler Â
- Close the inhaler by sliding the cover up and over the mouthpiece as far as it will go.Â
- You may optionally clean the mouthpiece with a dry tissue if needed, although routine cleaning is unnecessary.Â
- Rinse your mouth.Â
- After using the inhaler, rinse your mouth with water, spit it out, and avoid swallowing the water.Â
Use Arnuity Ellipta regularly at evenly spaced intervals, ideally at the same time daily. Avoid altering your dosage or frequency of use without consulting your doctor.Â
To avoid worsening of symptoms, do not discontinue the use of Arnuity Ellipta without consulting your healthcare provider.Â
