Description
Indications
Arimidex is a medication prescribed for the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
Its mechanism of action involves the reduction of estrogen levels, thereby impeding the proliferation of certain estrogen-dependent breast tumors.
Arimidex is administered to patients whose cancer has progressed despite prior treatment with tamoxifen (Nolvadex, Soltamox).
Uses and Dosage
Before initiating anastrozole therapy and with each subsequent refill. In case of any uncertainties, please seek guidance from your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
The medication should be taken orally, as directed by your physician, usually once a day, with or without food. To maximize the therapeutic benefits, adhere to a regular dosing schedule, taking it at the same time each day.
To avoid unwanted side effects, do not increase the dose or duration of treatment beyond the prescribed regimen. Doing so will not hasten symptom relief and may increase the risk of severe adverse reactions.
As this medication can be absorbed through the lungs and skin and pose a potential hazard to an unborn baby, pregnant women or those who may conceive should avoid handling this drug or inhaling the tablet dust.
