Uses and Dosage
This medication is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate pain stemming from various sources such as headaches, menstrual periods, toothaches, backaches, osteoarthritis, or cold/flu aches and pains, as well as for the reduction of fever. To ensure optimal therapeutic benefits and prevent the risk of an acetaminophen overdose, take Tylenol precisely as directed on the label or prescribed by a physician. Overdosing on acetaminophen can lead to liver damage or fatality.
Adults and teenagers weighing at least 110 pounds (50 kilograms) should not exceed 1000 milligrams (mg) per dose or consume more than 4000 mg within a 24-hour period. Children under 12 years of age should not take more than five doses of acetaminophen in a 24-hour period. follow the recommended milligrams per dose based on the child’s age and weight, as specified on the label. The concurrent use of other medicines containing acetaminophen should be avoided to prevent a potentially fatal overdose.
Extra-strength Tylenol should not be administered to children younger than 12 years old without first seeking medical advice. The dosage for a child’s weight and age should be carefully followed, and consult a doctor before administering this medication to a child younger than two years old.
