Nilstat cream is used to treat fungal or yeast infections of the skin, including mucocutaneous and cutaneous mycotic infections caused by Candida albicans and other susceptible Candida. It is also used to treat fungus infections of the vagina. Â
Nilstat cream is an antifungal medication that contains nystatin. It belongs to the group of medicines called antifungals. It works by stopping the growth and spread of fungal infections by binding to the fungal cell wall and preventing it from growing. Â
Use and DosageÂ
Nilstat Cream is intended for external use only and should not be taken by mouth. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the cream, except when treating a hand infection, in which case wash your hands only prior to application. Avoid getting the cream in your eyes and if this occurs, rinse your eyes with plenty of cool tap water. Â
The cream should be used as directed on the prescription label, at the same time every day, and not more frequently than directed. It is recommended that you use the medication for the full duration of the prescribed course, even if you feel better. Do not stop using the cream unless instructed to do so by your care team.Â
When applying the cream, use a thin layer and cover the affected area with a sterile gauze dressing. Do not use an airtight bandage, such as a plastic-covered bandage. If you believe you have taken too much of the medication, please contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.Â
