As a fibrate medication, Lipidil Supra works by enhancing the activity of the natural enzyme responsible for metabolizing fats in the bloodstream.

Typically, this medication is taken once daily with a meal as prescribed by the doctor. 

To achieve optimal outcomes, take Lipidil Supra exactly as directed and maintain a consistent schedule for administration.  

Do not exceed this medication’s prescribed dose or duration, as it will not expedite the reduction of cholesterol and triglyceride levels and may elevate the risk of side effects. 

Keep taking Lipidil Supra even if you feel well, as most individuals with high cholesterol or triglyceride levels do not feel sick. Regular medical tests may be necessary to assess this medicine’s effectiveness, regardless of any absence of symptoms. 

Moreover, adhere strictly to your doctor’s guidance regarding dietary plans, additional medications, and exercise regimens. 

Side Effects 

Common Side Effects 

• Runny nose and sneezing 
• Abnormal results in laboratory tests 

Inform your doctor if any of the above-listed common side effects continue or worsen. 

Serious Side Effects 

• Severe stomach pain extending to the back or shoulder blade 
• Loss of appetite, stomach pain immediately after eating 
• Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes) 
• Fever, chills, weakness, sore throat, mouth blisters, or unusual bruising or bleeding 
• Chest pain, wheezing, rapid breathing, sudden cough, coughing up blood 
• Swelling, warmth, or redness in the arm or leg 

Call your doctor right away if any of the above-listed serious side effects occur. 

Lipidil Supra may rarely induce a condition that triggers the deterioration of skeletal muscle tissue, potentially resulting in kidney failure. Promptly contact your healthcare provider if you experience inexplicable muscle discomfort, sensitivity, or weakness, particularly when accompanied by fever, unusual fatigue, or dark urine. 

Skin Reactions 

Seek immediate medical assistance if you experience indications of a severe skin reaction while using Lipidil Supra, such as: 

• Fever 
• Sore throat 
• Eye discomfort 
• Skin pain 
• Development of a red or purple skin rash that spreads, blisters, and peels 

Allergic Reactions 

Although rare, a severe allergic reaction to Lipidil Supra can occur. Immediate medical aid should be sought if any of the following symptoms manifest: 

• Hives 
• Difficult breathing 
• Swelling in the face or throat

Cautions 

Before starting treatment with Lipidil Supra, inform your doctor if you have any known allergies, particularly to fenofibrate or any of its inactive ingredients.

• Kidney disease 
• Gallbladder disease 
• Liver conditions (e.g., biliary cholangitis, hepatitis) 
• Alcohol use 

Certain products might interact with Lipidil Supra, notably “blood thinners” like warfarin. To minimize these interactions, inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. 

If you are prescribed to take a bile acids resin like cholestyramine (Questran), colesevelam (WelChol), or colestipol (Colestid), ensure to take it either 1 hour after or 4-6 hours before Lipidil Supra as these drugs can potentially interfere with the full absorption of Lipidil Supra. 

Fenofibrate closely resembles fenofibric acid. Avoid using medications that contain fenofibric acid while taking Lipidil Supra. 

The potential impact of Lipidil Supra on an unborn baby is uncertain. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, inform your doctor. 

Inform your doctor of your breastfeeding status, as it is not advisable to breastfeed while taking Lipidil Supra and for a minimum of 5 days after the final dose.
