Indications 

Claritin Nasal Pump is used to ease nasal congestion arising from colds, allergies, and hay fever, and to relieve sinus congestion and pressure. 

As a nasal decongestant, Claritin Nasal Pump functions by constricting blood vessels in the nasal area, thereby reducing swelling and congestion. 

Uses and Dosage 

Claritin Nasal Pump is for intranasal use only. Adhere to all instructions provided on the product packaging or as your healthcare provider prescribes. Should you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist. 

Typically, Claritin is administered with 2 to 3 sprays every 10 to 12 hours, as needed, but not exceeding twice within a 24-hour. 

To properly use this nasal pump, follow these steps: 

1. Before initial use, remove the protective cap from the tip and prime the metered pump by firmly depressing it several times. 
2. Shake the bottle thoroughly before each application. 
3. Gently blow your nose before using the nasal pump. 
4. To spray, hold the bottle with your thumb at the base and the nozzle between your first and second fingers. 
5. Without tilting your head, insert the nozzle into your nostril, fully depress the rim with a firm, even stroke, and inhale deeply. 
6. Refrain from spraying the medication on your eyes or the middle of your nose (nasal septum). 
7. Repeat steps 2-5 for the other nostril if necessary. 
8. After use, wipe the nozzle clean. 

Limit your usage of this medication to no more than 3 days, as exceeding this duration may result in rebound congestion, characterized by persistent nasal redness, swelling, and increased runny nose. If such symptoms emerge, discontinue use, and seek guidance from your healthcare provider or pharmacist. 

To achieve the best outcome, adhere precisely to the instructions for using Claritin Nasal Spray. Avoid exceeding the recommended frequency, number of sprays, or duration, as this may heighten the likelihood of experiencing adverse effects. 

Notify your healthcare provider if there is a worsening of symptoms or if they persist beyond three days. 

Side Effects 

Listed below are the potential adverse effects of Claritin Nasal Pump. Notify your doctor promptly if any of these symptoms continue or worsen. 

Common Side Effects 

• Mild nasal burning or stinging 
• Sneezing 
• Runny nose 

Serious Side Effects 

• Persistent or deteriorating symptoms 
• Intense nasal burning or stinging following nasal spray use 
• Chest pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat 
• Severe headache, ringing in the ears, anxiety, confusion, or breathlessness 

Stop using Claritin Nasal Pump and call your doctor immediately if any of the severe symptoms above are experienced. 

Allergic Reactions 

In rare cases, Claritin Nasal Pump may trigger a severe allergic response. Seek immediate medical help if you observe signs of an allergic reaction, such as: 

• Hives 
• Face, lips, tongue, or throat swelling 
• Trouble breathing

Cautions 

Before using Claritin Nasal Pump, talk to your doctor if you have any known allergies, particularly to oxymetazoline, to other sympathomimetics (e.g., pseudoephedrine), or to any of the inactive ingredients found in this nasal pump. 

Seek advice from your healthcare provider or pharmacist before using Claritin Nasal Pump if you have the following medical conditions:  

• Heart or blood vessel disease 

• Hyperthyroidism 
• Diabetes 
• High blood pressure 
• Difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate 

Do not use Claritin Nasal Pump if you have dry nasal passages or if you recently underwent trans-nasal surgery. 

Claritin Nasal Pump should not be used along with other decongestant products and monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. 

To avoid potential drug interactions with Claritin Nasal Pump, inform your healthcare providers about all medications you are currently or recently taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. 

The impact of using Claritin Nasal Pump on the health of an unborn baby is uncertain. Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or have plans to conceive while using this medication. 

The transfer of oxymetazoline into breast milk and its potential effects on nursing infants have not been established. If you are currently breastfeeding, consult with your doctor.
