Indications 

Canesten 3 Day Vaginal Cream is a medication used to treat vaginal yeast infections. The cream is applied directly to the vagina to reduce symptoms such as burning, itching, and discharge. It helps inhibit the growth and spread of the fungi that cause the infection. 

The Cream contains clotrimazole, an azole antifungal that works by stopping the growth of yeast that causes the infection.  

Use and Dosage 

Canesten 3 Day Vaginal Cream is for vaginal use only. It should be applied to the affected area twice daily for three days. The cream comes with an applicator to ensure proper use. The cream is applied internally and typically used for 3 days, though the length of treatment can vary depending on the infection’s severity. 

To use the 3-Day Vaginal Cream with an applicator, follow these general instructions: 

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before starting. 
2. Remove the cap from the tube of cream. 
3. Attach the open end of the applicator to the tube of cream by screwing it on. 
4. Squeeze the tube of cream to fill the applicator until it is full, or the plunger stops. 
5. Unscrew the applicator from the tube and replace the cap on the tube.  
6. Find a comfortable position, such as lying on your back with your knees bent or standing with one foot elevated.  
7. Gently insert the applicator into your vagina as far as it will comfortably go.  
8. Slowly press the plunger of the applicator to release the cream into the vagina.  
9. After use, clean the applicator thoroughly according to the instructions provided. 
10. Repeat the process for the recommended number of days as directed by your healthcare provider or the product packaging. 

Note: the cream should be used at bedtime for three consecutive nights, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider. Cautions 

• Allergic Reactions: If you are allergic to clotrimazole or any other ingredients in Canesten 3 Day Vaginal Cream, you should not use the cream. Allergic reactions can include itching, rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately. 
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult with your healthcare provider before using Canesten 3 Day Vaginal Cream if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. While the cream is considered safe to use during pregnancy, discuss the potential risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. 
• Other Medical Conditions: Inform your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have, especially if you have a weakened immune system, diabetes, or HIV/AIDS. These conditions may require additional monitoring or adjustments in your treatment plan. 
• Condoms and Diaphragms: Clotrimazole may weaken latex condoms and diaphragms, reducing their effectiveness as a contraceptive method.  
• Interactions with Other Medications: Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements that you are currently taking. Some medications may interact with the Cream, potentially reducing its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. 
• Persistent or Recurrent Infections: If your symptoms do not improve after completing the treatment with Clotrimazole, or if the infection recurs within a short period of time, consult with your healthcare provider. Persistent or recurrent infections may require further evaluation and alternative treatment options. 
• Use as Directed: provided by your healthcare provider or the product packaging when using Canesten 3 Day Vaginal Cream. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration of treatment, as this can increase the risk of side effects. 
• Avoid Sexual Intercourse: Avoid sexual intercourse while using the cream. The cream may interfere with the effectiveness of condoms or other barrier methods of contraception. 
• Safety Precautions: The cream is for vaginal use only and should not be ingested or applied to other parts of the body. Keep the cream out of reach of children and store it at room temperature.
